Announcing the Arrival of Baby Edda!

Haha... this is long overdue... our baby Edda finally say "hi" to everyone on 6th July 2010 (Tue) @1440hr! (I was born @1444hr :P)
The 1st 2 weeks were indeed a challenge... pumping milk, feeding, diaper change, etc... everything so new, so overwhelming... I did not have a confinement lady (my supposed CL played me out >:( long story, but nvm...), but my mil cooked for me for the 1st 3weeks, while my mum helps me with Edda. Really grateful! :) Now that we've more or less successfully set a routine, everyday seems to pass by so quickly & before I realize it, Edda is already 1month old! Yay...! Edda's gonna get her very 1st haircut & manicure later when hubby gets home ;) hehe...
Edda's really growing fast! Crochet this cap for her & it fits her perfectly only for the 1st 2 weeks & she's now outgrown it liao! :P
Believe it or not, was knitting this beanie for her in the morning of 5th July, just before my final gyne appointment. Good thing I managed to complete it in the same morning... coz I was admitted to the hospital the same evening as I had actually already dilated 3cm! :P This beanie was indeed "JUST IN TIME"! ;)
Edda is such a sweetheart, isn't she??? :))) hehe...

Customized Cape for Princess Chloe

Time flies... Baby Princess Chloe has outgrown all her Knotty Fashion Collection & is now back for more! ;) Mummy Verlin has customized this sweet cape for Princess Chloe, who is almost two now :) I'm sure it will keep Chloe warm & comfy when Mummy brings her shopping at air-conditioned places... :)

"I've just received the cape from the postman.  Wow, it looks even prettier in real.  I love it." - Verlin, 1st June 2010, sent via email.

Customized Bag for Ee Ling

This bag is inspired by the now-very-popular Longchamp Bags. I use a velvety yarn specially made for bags. Due to the size (approximately 46x30cm), I chose to crochet it with a smaller hook, so I do not have to sew a lining. Hence, took me a lot more time to make it, & also used up a lot more yarns :P It sure is worth the effort as the effect is BEAUTIFUL, don't u think? ;)

"Ee Ling, thank u so much for your patience & understanding, waiting for almost 4weeks for your order :) Sure hope u'll have a wonderful trip with your new bag! ;)"

"Kai Fan Le!" ("Let's Tuck In!" in Chinese)

Come check out my artpiece for the "Eat with Family" exhibition @Arts House. I'll be at the opening tonight (Monday, 17th May) @6.30pm. Sure hope to see some of u there! ;)

My 1st Carnation

I received my 1st carnation bouquet last Saturday! :P As always, my loving hubby surprised me with a nice cosy lunch date @New York New York, Sembawang Shopping Centre, with a nice little bouquet of carnation! It's real sweet of him & I truly appreciate him alot :)

Initially, I thought the lunch & bouquet was to "compensate" for crashing my Mac while he was trying to update some software (yes, my Mac is still recuperating. Thank goodness my genius hubby is able to retrieve bulk of my stuff, otherwise... he's probably already a DEAD MAN! :P *evil smile*). Then when I read the card, I realized it's for "Mother's Day"! haha... It was funny...

My 1st carnation... marks a new chapter of my life. Mixed feelings, although more excitement & thrill than worry. I know I'll do my best, so I hope I'll be able to cope & be a good mother for bb Edda. Well, at least some things for sure, I know my parents & parents-in-law will definitely be there to help. Most of all, I know Edward will always be a loving & supportive husband, & I know he's gonna be a wonderful father, a SUPER-DAD! ;)
Here's wishing all Mothers in the world once again a happy & fulfilling motherhood! :)

"Eat with Family" - a group Art Exhibition

It's been my personal goal to be involved in at least 1 exhibition every year. The biggest gotta be my 1st solo show "Mee Suah" in 2008. Well, this year with bb Edda on the way, I thought would not be able to come up with anything :( Fortunately & quite timely enough, I was approached by Kelvin, 1 of the curators of this exhibition, to be part of this show. Of course I agreed to participate almost immediately! ;)

I'm showcasing a family portrait in my knitted art style. 48x36inches, my biggest piece of knitted art so far ;) Yes, VERY AMBITIOUS indeed... :P Nevertheless, it's been fun working on it... I believe bb Edda enjoys the process too, since she's ALWAYS kicking while I'm painting! ;P Kelvin, thanx for the opportunity !

I'll be at the opening on 17th May 2010 (Mon). Sure hope to see some fo u there too! ;)

KBCC #23 - Colour Pencils

In view of the soon arrival of my little girl, I've decided to stop KBCC for the time-being, until I adapt to my mew role as a mummy :) KBCC met for our last crafting session for this year 2010, last saturday on 24th April 2010. For the 1st time since KBCC shifted our venue to Knotty Bicsie Crafting Studio, we met with some rain at he beginning of our session... Mixed feelings...
For this month's activity, we explored the vast possibilities of colour pencils (both water-soluble & non-water-soluble) as a medium. Colour pencil has always been one of my favourite medium. It's easy to handle, clean & neat :)
As usual, we had our yummy makan time! :) This month, we had yummy 933 Golden Pillow Curry Chicken Bun... When we ran out of curry gravy, KBCC-ians asked for Kaya & we had Kaya Bun for dessert! hehe...
Check out our brilliant work-in-progress! :)))

Meet Funky Knitter - Sophia

Edward brought me to a Barista Workshop @Highlander Coffee on my birthday 2 years ago. It was a very fun experience for both of us. Upon learning that I'm Knotty Bicsie, our teacher (the boss of Highlander Coffee) told me then that his teenage daughter is also keen on learning knitting! :) Met her on the 2nd day of our workshop. Very sweet & well-mannered young lady. We exchanged contacts, & we bid farewell... Finally, finally, finally... after 2years, Sophia FINALLY called to say she's ready to start her knitting journey, now that she's completed her 'O' Levels! haha... Here she is with her very 1st knitted project - a beautiful beret!
"Hi! It was really interesting & Betsy is extremely patient with me despite the countless number of times I made mistakes! After this workshop, I will definitely continue to experiment on my own knits. Thank you!" - Sophia, 25th April 2010

Meet Crochet Craze - Kervin

Hopefully got chance to let my future BB Girl wear it... hee. Thanks again!!" - Kervin Tan, 1oth April 2010.

KBCC #22 - Friendship Pen

After stopping for a month in Febraury, we are once again back for more crafting last Saturday! :) This time, we did something which I enjoyed doing alot for my friends & teachers during my Primary & Secondary school days - Friendship Pen. We basically weaved our names & patterns onto regular, plain-looking pens.
As simple as it may look, to weave the alphabets, while coiling the pen, actually requires quite a bit of concentration & imagination. Look how everyone's deep in concentration... :P
When we were finally done, our playful Rita & Moses had lotsa fun posing with their masterpieces! Aren't they cute?? lol... :D
Check out our vibrant work of heart! :)
Since last Saturday was a small group, we decided to just get KFC :P Had a looong nice chat over makan... & KBCC ended much later than usual :)

Remember Funky Knitter, Irene? Well, she went on from her knitted sling bag to picking up crochet too! She's so motivated, she completed this cute amigurumi Mouse in just 1month, despite the CNY break! Well done, Irene! & now she's moving on to crocheting a tunic top for herself. Lookout for for masterpiece on my blog soon... :)

Having Fun with my New Toy

Remember the new toy my friends got for me as birthday present? Well, finally got down to have some fun with my new sewing machine! ;) Attended the 2 free demo lessons provided by "Brother" & managed to make my very 1st quilted cushion cover in just 2hrs! I consider this a HUGE achievement since it's my 1st attempt from scratch! I'm so proud of myself! haha... :P

I'm so gonna look for some patterns to sew many new clothes to doll up my Little Princess Edda! hehe... :P

Meet Crochet Craze - Regina

"Dear Betsy, first of all, a very big Thank You for your patient teaching & guidance during my time here. You made me realize the beauty of doing crochet & the desire to do more during my free time. I have learnt quite a lot of techniques & I love them all. My first piece of crochet project was a memorable one & I am really really glad too. Especially when u commented on my good progress & good technique, although I thought otherwise. Thank you so much!" - Regina Koh, 7th March 2010

Regina indeed has a hidden talent! No doubt a newbie in crochet, but her tension & workmanship is fabulous! She's now learning to crochet flower brooches from me. I'm hoping she'll be convinced soon to make them for sale :) I'm sure in no time, Regina will be a new elf @Knotty Bicsie :P Wait for my good news! ;)
